
Peter Sandback dismisses the notion that his concrete tables are in any way works of art. In fact, despite having studied sculpture in graduate school, he claims his work is purely functional — albeit in a choice of several very pleasing colors. He makes rectangular (and sometimes round) concrete tables. True, that kind of description doesn’t sound very “artistic.” But Sandback is being modest when he rejects the art in his work.
